The greater majority of people trained in scientific disciplines place no credence in these claims. When subjected to scientific method, the claims of dowsers, astrologers, psychics and other new age healie feelies, including crystal healers are not substantiated. Some results were positive of course, but well within the statistical limits for pure chance. From what I could ascertain, no scientific evidence was ever obtained that would prove that such remote sensing was possible. At the time, I worked under military contract, in liaison, with SRI and later for Stanford University. There were many rumors regarding the success of this work and that it was covered up to keep the public from knowing about it. Stanford Research Institute (SRI), in Menlo Park, CA, was at the forefront of this work. Or better yet, why not use remote viewing? The US and Russian government spent millions on research into these unorthodox methods of remote sensing during the Cold War. But, why use a dowsing rod, when a pendulum held over a map will save all the walking. What I hear so far is that the dowsing rods can detect metallic ores, fluorite, water and, not to be ignored, runway lights.
